The name for The Spotted Lamb Press is inspired by a part of Jacob’s story that is located in Genesis 30:25-43. Jacob endured many years of hardship working for his father-in-law, Laban. During this time, he was subjected to unfair working conditions, and his wage terms were changed ten times. Laban seemed to always find a way to put Jacob at a disadvantage.
Jacob wanted to depart, but he agreed to continue to work for Laban, provided that he be allowed to keep the streaked, speckled, and spotted livestock as his wages. As soon as the agreement was made, Laban sent all of the streaked, speckled, and spotted livestock far away from the property.
Though Laban used trickery to gain the upper hand over Jacob, his scheme was no match against God’s perfect will for Jacob’s life. Indeed, it was the streaked, speckled, and spotted livestock that increased greatly in number, while the livestock belonging to Laban dwindled. This part of Jacob's story illustrates how God’s promises will always prevail over human tactics because God is the Almighty, and His power is supreme.
The Spotted Lamb Press aims to create products that glorify our great God by bringing attention to stories of the Bible, such as Jacob's, that reveal God's perfect attributes and grow the reader's appreciation for His sovereignty.
